First Friday ArtWalk Celebrates its one year anniversary February 2012 in downtown Elizabeth City!

Men and children are just as welcome at the All Dolled Up Salon on Main Street as women are.  “We offer friendly service and reasonable prices for the whole family,” says Salon owner and stylist Wendy McPherson.   Wendy took over the business at 511 E. Main Street in December of 2009. Heather Brett, who had worked as a nail tech for the previous business owner, joined her soon after to complete the team.  The shop is decorated in bright pink and green with black and white zebra accents which shows the fun and fresh personalities of the women who work in the Salon.  “We want to be a friendly salon where people can come in and have a good time,” stated McPherson.  The salon provides services for hair including color, foils, up do’s, facial waxing, perms, roller sets and haircuts for the whole family.  Nail services include manicures and pedicures, polish changes and acrylics.  They also sell the retail products that they use in the salon as well as colorful “All Dolled Up” T-shirts.

Since they have been in business downtown, All Dolled Up Salon has had customers from many places stop in.  They have had boaters and other tourists come into their shop from places like South Carolina, Florida, and even Canada.  However, they really enjoy meeting and serving our local community and downtown employees.  Born and raised in Elizabeth City, Wendy graduated from the School of Cosmetology at College of the Albemarle in 2007 and loves giving back to the community she grew up in.  “We meet a lot of nice people and we want to be available for the corporate community and downtown workers.  When people are having a bad day, they come in and we can make them feel better about themselves,” commented Wendy.

When asked about the benefits of being downtown, the women expressed that they love the history and historic buildings of downtown and said that some people don’t realize how busy downtown is.  They appreciate the cleanliness and like the feeling that the local businesses all look out for each other.  They feel that by being downtown, they keep updated on all the downtown events and stay involved.  “To me,” says Wendy, “it keeps a small town going.  We have the best of both worlds here with the scenery and the waterfront, plus you can just walk down the street to find what you need.”

All Dolled Up business hours are: 9-5 and evenings when needed.  Call 252-333-3274 for an appointment or just walk in.
